  • Let Inspiration Drive Action

    Let Inspritation Drvie your2

Perhaps the coffee hit my brain in exactly the right way this morning… It might be the New Moon in Gemini that’s turning some internal tides. I don’t know – and it doesn’t really matter all that much.

Whatever it was has me rushing to get out my calendar and to get organized so that I can achieve what I truly want to with my life and with my business. I’m in ultra-achiever-mode. I need to harness this energy and use it to ACCOMPLISH MY GOALS!

You see, it’s so easy for me to get totally sucked into LIVING – which isn’t bad on one hand, but – when I look back and see what I had wanted to achieve and wanted to do this year – well, I feel bad about myself because I haven’t regularly done ANYTHING and I don’t feel like I’ve accomplished so much.

I mean my kids are fed and my house is reasonably tidied and my hubby is all loved up, but I don’t feel like I’ve actually done anything for myself or my business.

    No regular blog posts.
    No regular weekly readings.
No regular emails going out to my list.
No regular posts to Instagram or to Facebook.
No regular visits to the museum.
    No regular workouts.
    No regular time for meditation.

Despite the fact that I feel like I work ALL. THE. TIME., I’m not getting the results I want. And that feels bad.

So, I want to get organized – get an action plan into place – get some short-term goals set that will help me build toward the long-term goals I have.

Here’s what I need to get focused and organized:

    • I need to take the time to focus on what I want – on a monthly basis AND on a weekly and daily basis.
    • I need a calendar to write things + a “to-do” list + a vision board.
    • I need to get that all set up TODAY! (or it certainly feels like I do!)

You see, I know I don’t need to wait for January to feel like I can “start” planning and strategizing. I can start NOW. I can focus on the 2nd half of 2016, cause that’s what we’re in right now!

I don’t have to wait for January 1st, 2017 to make a HUGE life change or to plan for success. I can start today. In this moment. NOW!

I can let those lightning bolts of inspiration drive my actions. Let them lead me from where I am to where I want to be. Whatever. day. they. hit. me.

Tweet: I can let those lightning bolts of inspiration drive my actions. Let them lead me from where I am to where I want to be. Whatever. day. they. hit. me.

So, today is all about setting my goals for the last half of the year, scheduling things like my workouts and my posts directly in my calendar, getting my computer a bit more organized so that I can save time because it isn’t so laggy – and getting disciplined and organized.

    What do you need to

What is it that you are raring to get done in the second half of 2016? How can you set yourself up for feeling successful?

  • Standing Out is the KEY to Success!

    standout

When you are working to build your online presence, making your daily readings and online content stand out is KEY to success!

If you are anything like me, you have a few hundred friends who are into angel card reading, tarot, astrology, and just passing general awesome information around on social media. My feeds are like streams of wonderful advice and guidance.

There are some readers, coaches, and influencers whose work I can spot from a mile away, like Leonie Dawson with her original artwork and fonts, Hiro Boga’s abstract yet peaceful blue and purple background, and Danielle LaPortes stark, handwritten #truthbomb posts – but they are few and far between. The vast majority – especially the newbie crowd – post totally anonymous readings, quotes, and content. There is no way to link the content back to the person who did it.

PS – there is nothing wrong with being a newbie – we all start out that way!

So, what YOU want to do as an up-and-coming superstar Light Worker is to inject your posts with your own special personality – and give visual cues to what that personality is so people see something and automatically know it is from you!

    How can you do that?

Here are a few tips and tricks that will make the content you share on social media stand out from the crowd!

    1) Put your name and website into the picture. You can either use an online design program like Canva.com or PicMonkey to add your website and links to the bottom of the picture of your reading and also to create fabulous graphics to use in your blog posts and on your social media sites that tie back to your website.

*If you are working with a photo based social media platform like Instagram and you don’t want to do the extra steps of working with your picture in a different program, then you can simply put your business card into the picture!

    2) Choose a color scheme and stick with it! Personally, I use a lot of warm tones – oranges, reds, golds, and yellows. The vast majority of the backgrounds I use and posts I create are in those colors. (As you may know, I use the watercolor background like the one at the top of this page for a majority of my quotes.) When I do venture into green territory, I generally use the exact same green color every time, and I use the same shapes and text types as I normally do. Of course, I put my website on the pictures as well.

    3) Choose a couple of text types, and stick with them as well.

I use very similar colors and fonts on my site and in my social media content.
I use very similar colors and fonts on my site and in my social media content.

    4) Use similar props every time. Love feathers or crystals or hearts or candles? Use them as props for your readings. Use the same props over and over again. Arrange them in a similar fashion – or have something funky and distinctly you in the pictures.

    5) Create signature content. One way to set yourself apart from the crowd is to regularly highlight something that you do well. For example, I love Lisa Frideborg’s Deck Interviews that she puts out when she gets a new deck (here is her interview with Doreen Virtue’s Angel Tarot Deck). When I was running Clear Vision Readings and Reiki, I would post Intuitive Musings posts that were designed to help people learn to read tarot, and also to highlight the similarities and differences between decks.

    6) Don’t copy other people’s looks. OHMYGODSNGODDESSES! This is so important! If you copy the look, feel, background, font, etc. of someone you admire, then you are basically making your readings and content blend with theirs. If the person you admire is a celebrity, then your content will likely get lost in the shuffle of a thousand adoring fans who are trying to emulate the same look and feel.

    And, the MOST important thing:

    7) Fully embrace who you are and what you like! Be yourself – fully and boldly! When you are creating your content and visual branding (how your stuff looks) – it is vital that you are yourself! Bring aspects of the quirky, unique, and ultra-interesting person you are into your work. Give your own interpretations of cards. Use your own voice and talk at your own intellectual level (don’t dumb it down – you can explain if need be). Trust that there are people out there who will be touched by what you have to say and who you are!

Don’t be afraid to be bold and just be who you are. Standing out from the crowd is a vital part of creating recognition of your work – and that recognition will help you stand out and succeed. That is what you should be doing, really. Don’t allow yourself to get lost in the shuffle. If you set yourself apart from the rest, then people will start to know who you are by sight!

  • Top 5 Angel Business Tips

    Top 5

Your calling is BIG. You know in your heart, spirit, and soul that you haven’t been put here to merely sit behind a desk, but to spread light and love across the planet.

And so you’ve made healing, advising, SERVICE  your mission! You’ve studied and apprenticed and received attunements. You’ve taken all of the classes – and you’ve committed to making your spiritual work into your CAREER!

    Congratulations!!

Here are the top 5 business tips for Spiritual Teachers, Reiki/Energy Practitioners, Tarot Readers, Angel Intuitives, and Light Workers of all kinds.

    1) Value your modern, human needs.

I know that you are a spirit in human form, and your material form has needs that are inherent to the situation. You need adequate sleep, nourishing food, a safe and secure home, clothing, downtime, a good dose of your own energy, and honestly, you probably need to make money from your spiritual career.

The material side of the spiritual business can seem pretty icky and undesirable fodder for many Lightworkers. Many of us are driven by the need to serve over the need to receive. Some of us remember past lives as healers – where our needs (food, shelter, clothing, jewelry) were met in trade for our services. Others of us took a vow of poverty either in this life or past incarnations. This vow can greatly impede our ability to receive and feel comfortable with wealth that we generate through our healing work. Still others, Earth Angels and reincarnated angels of all sorts, only remember giving and not ever needing anything in return for helping others. They just don’t even consider charging for their gifts in the first place. Lightworkers and Earth Angels, in general, have a hard time accepting payment for their services.

And then there is the negative light that has been cast on money, finances, and “rich people.” People have perpetuated the myth that all rich people are mean and greedy, money is evil, and accumulating it just isn’t spiritually aligned. When you think like that, you actually create blocks within yourself about wealth creation because you don’t want to be evil and greedy, so you subconsciously and energetically avoid attracting what repulses you!

    Consider this, though.

The power of money lies in what you do with it and how you accumulate it. Money itself is not evil – it is a neutral tool that can be used for good or evil.

Money can feed the poor, it can fund doctors and medicine for the sick, it can build homes for the homeless. It can be used for a VARIETY of good deeds and positive things.

The more money and resources Lightworkers and Earth Angels have, the more they can use money for good!

Your work is not only about changing your own life – but you know that already, don’t you? It is about changing the world and using your gifts for the good of yourself, your clients, your community, and the world!

And please, please don’t project your needs or attitudes about money away from the current system or paradigm. You are living NOW and need to take care of your needs in the current economic system. Spewing contempt toward the current economic system and calling for its fail is a HUGE energy conflict. Avoid that conflict. Live now.

One key to overcoming conflicts about receiving money for your gifts: Always remember that an energy exchange is a necessary part of any healing or advising ceremony. The common means of exchange right now is money. It is perfectly acceptable for others to use money as a means of energy exchange.

    2) Trust your intuition about business decisions and clients.

People who are building their Lightworker practices often go against their intuition when dealing with clients. They take on people who aren’t an energetic match in order to grow their client base. They go against their instincts in business and in life in hopes that they will help their businesses.

It just doesn’t work that way, and you know it! You ARE a highly intuitive being who USES those intuitions for others, so start using them to guide you in your business!

If you get a hunch that a client isn’t going to benefit from your advice or services, refer them to a different practitioner. If you get the feeling that a particular gig isn’t going to serve you, pass. If you get the feeling that a client is going to skip out on the bill, demand payment in advance (that should be your MO anyway!). If someone you meet gives you the heebee-jeebies, get away!

It is totally 100% OK to trust your intuitions and cues about people you work with and business opportunities that you create or that present themselves to you. Go with your hunches. Trust your gut. Listen to your Angels when they whisper warnings into your ears…

And – of course – go full force into things that make you tingle and that your intuition shouts YES! YES! YES! about. Find ways to go down the paths that you are guided to. Follow the clues that the Universe gives you to find your ultimate successes in using your gifts.

    3) Don’t forget your practices

Business life can be exhausting. It can be obsessive. It can drain your energy and still be hungry for more. That is why every Lightworker and Angelic Practitioner should be twice as conscious of keeping some sort of meditative, connecting, self-care practice going – and make time for it – on a daily basis.

Shielding and cord cutting are also going to be necessities. If you don’t know how to shield your energy or cut your cords, I have a FAB cord cutting ritual for $4.44 (with meditation for $9.99). You can order it today!

Also, do the small stuff with your family that is so important to keeping your bonds with them strong. Take time away from Twitter to rub your spouse’s back. Don’t let your children go without their evening ritual involving none other than you. Your business will grow, as will your children. Your latest blog post can get polished at 9 pm so you can have that half hour to read and snuggle with your littles.

It’s not all about your business, but also about your life. Remember that. And remember…

    4) Your business is A BUSINESS!

I totally get the fact that reading a tarot spread is much more fun than tallying the plusses and minuses from last month’s accounts. I understand rolling your eyes at having to track each and every deck of cards, cartridge of printer ink, webinar, and spiritual group you join so that you can deduct those from your taxes.

And I totally, absolutely understand having issues with setting firm boundaries with clients. Oh. My. Gods and Goddesses, do I!

But a business is a business, and it needs to be run like one. You need to track your income, the money you are spending, your clients, your time.

You must be firm with late people, no-shows, or those who would like to have their 60 minute appointment actually last 2+ hours. Create a good client contract that details your specific rules and ethics (mine is here). Refer clients to it. Be consistent in using it. It is better to create good boundaries with the people you work with and for than to feel taken advantage of or actually get ripped off by a client who you have served.

    5) These things take time.

This is a key point – it might take time to grow your business. You will have to make time to put into it, and you’ll have to keep at it, no matter what!

It is so (so, soooo) important to realize that 1,000 people might not view your website on the first day it launches – or on the second, or on the sixtieth.

You’ve gotta love what you are doing so much that it just doesn’t matter how long it takes to succeed, because you are in it to see it through to success!

Patience. Consistency. Dedication. Belief. Faith. Those are all of the qualities you are going to need to hang tight to when you are growing your business! Tweet: Patience. Consistency. Dedication. Belief. Faith. Those are all of the qualities you are going to need to hang tight to when you are growing your business!

Many Lightworkers and Earth Angels love what they do so much that it is hard for them to focus on the business aspect of their businesses. The tips mentioned above will help these kind and generous people to not only share their gifts in service of others, but also to share their gifts in service of their own needs.

Building your dream business takes time…

Man, would I like to have all of my beautiful content up – but building the dream takes time!

Letter by letter, word by word, page by page – that is how this gets created. One article at a time. No more – even though I wish it!

There is work to be done – research to be completed, pages to be written, links to be back-linked and organized, eBooks to be polished and uploaded. That is just the stuff that I have on my priorities list.

I have so many exciting new projects, products, and ideas to share with you that it is exhausting to think about them – let alone to find the time to create them. Right now, I am in the process of prioritizing, finding a web developer who will help me rock this site to the max, and just plugging along at it.

When you are working on your own business, remember that building the dream takes time.

Never give up on a dream

Some things that will help you build the dream more quickly:

    1) Set SMART goals. Make sure that the goals you set for yourself are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant (to what you do), and Time-sensitive.

    2) Prioritize your to-do list. Figure out what is absolutely necessary and/or has a due date within the week. Do the most important or time-sensitive tasks first. Cross off any tasks that are unnecessary.

    3) Limit the time you spend on social media. Social media can suck all of the time out of your work day. Try to check in only 3-5 times per day, 10 minutes at a time (unless you are getting things set up).

    4) Acknowledge a learning curve. If you are doing something brand new to you, it might take you 10 times longer to do a task than it would a pro. I am a firm believer in hiring professionals to complete tasks that I need to look professional.

    5) Don’t give up. When you are building your business from the ground up, it will take a while to catch air or take off. Keep working on it.

    6) Allow yourself to evolve. Your brand and business will likely evolve as time passes. Don’t make yourself stick with something that no longer suits you, and allow yourself to explore new and exciting options.

    7) Remember, not everything will be a hit right out the door. If you believe in something you’ve created, stick with promoting and refining that content – even if no one signs up for your first class or you don’t get a thousand subscribers in a month. Work on refining what you love about your business, marketing it, and promoting it to an ever-expanding audience.

“Do it again.Play it again. Sing it again.
Give yourself the time to build a business that serves you. Remember, it is going to be a marathon, not a sprint. Just keep going. You can do this!
