Reiki FAQs
Reiki can help you manage stress and help to restore your body to a more relaxed state in which it can better deal with disease and negative emotions.
My Energy Therapy sessions can help manage chronic pain, help to promote a more restful state, and also help to gently release emotions that might be trapped in the energetic field.
My Blend of Reiki and Energy Therapy
I practice a combination of Reiki and Quantum Energy when working with most of my clients. Combining both is something I feel works on a wider variety of levels. I also use visualization techniques associated with other energy work – and I bring the energy of crystals and aromatherapy into my energy sessions. My sessions are a truly customized blend of different techniques that I perform that are based on intuitive guidance.

Basically put, Reiki is the energy that is within and around all of us. Many associate it with God or with being pure loving energy.
According to the Google definition, Reiki is, “a healing technique based on the principle that the therapist can channel energy into the patient by means of touch, to activate the natural healing process of the patient’s body and restore physical and emotional well-being.”
There are many different versions of Reiki that are taught – the most common or “traditional” form being Usui Reiki, which is named for Mikado Usui, who discovered the practice and its associated symbols. Other branches of the practice have bloomed from the original form, including versions that call in different heavenly entities like Angels and Ascended Masters to help with the healing sessions.

Quantum Touch is a practice of energy healing discovered by Richard Gordon. This practice works with the energy from the therapist or practitioner learns to run and push out into the patient/client. It is a more vocal approach to healing and can incorporate sound tones and aromatherapy in sessions.

Generally speaking, energy work is a very gentle form of therapy and should leave a client feeling more at ease, less stressed, and more calm and relaxed.
Because Reiki and energy work can speed up the vibration of the cells in a person’s body, he or she might experience a bit of a detox after a session – especially if that person’s dietary habits are not very good. One might experience a headache after a session or a stomachache, as the body is working to process the excess toxins and release them from the system.
It is highly recommended, therefore, for a person to have an easy day after a session and drink plenty of water to help the body with the detoxification process.
Also, because Reiki can increase the metabolic rate of a body, medicines might go through the system more quickly. It is good to keep this in mind – especially for those who take medication for chronic pain, as the meds might wear of sooner than they normally do.

Interestingly, Reiki and energy go where they are needed in the person’s holistic system (mind, body, spirit) – so there are times when energy is directed at a certain part of a person’s life, but it doesn’t really “work” on that part – but instead goes into a different area in the person’s body or life. It can hasten changes in environment and relationships, or strengthen reserve.
[/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=”What can I expect during a Reiki session?”]
If you are meeting with a Reiki practitioner in his or her office, you can expect that the practitioner will have you fill out a couple of forms regarding your current physical and mental conditions, along with asking you some questions about what your intentions are during the Reiki session.
He or she will have you lay on a massage table (you will remain fully clothed). The practitioner will likely have some nice, relaxing music playing in the background for your session.
The practitioner will connect with Reiki energy, and then open up your aura and assess your energy field and pinpoint potential areas of concern. S/he will then begin placing his or her hands on or directly over your body. *A practitioner should NEVER touch you inappropriately. Reiki practitioners will be able to run the energy without actually touching you, should you prefer not to be touched.
Depending on the cues that the practitioner receives, s/he will either go through a series of 28 set hand positions or will work more intuitively on areas 1) that you have indicated are problematic or painful or 2) the practitioner senses energy deficiencies or imbalances in. It is likely that the practitioner will do a combination of the two.
Sessions usually last about 60-90 minutes.
After the session, you may feel a little bit dizzy or light headed, and you should wait to stand up until you feel stable and balanced.

Reiki, because it is energy, can be sent anywhere in the world – so there is no need to travel to Vienna to meet me in person.
Energy sessions done remotely are just as effective as those done in person. Several of my clients have had great results with remote sessions with me. See the Praise page.
The scientific community is still studying the specifics of how and why remote sessions are possible. If you would like to find out more about the details, check out the book, The Intention Experiment, by Lynne McTaggart.
