Card of the Day

  • The Nine of Pentacles

The Nine of Pentacles stalked me today. I picked the 9 of Pentacles four times in a row, even after shuffling the deck between pulls. (read more about what stalker cards mean)

It’s both funny and a bit freaky at the same time when you pick a card, look at it, shuffle it back into the deck, and… pick the same tarot card again. Multiple times. IYKYK.

In the standard Rider-Wait tarot deck, the Nine of Pentacles is represented by a woman who looks like she could be a young aristocrat or some sort of lower royalty with a hawk on her hand, standing in front of fruit-laden, super juicy and ripe grape bushes just outside of a village near the mountains. There are 9 coins behind her and the path before her is clear.

A richly-dressed woman stands in front of a hedge made of purple grapes and grape leaves. There are 9 yellow coins with pentagrams integrated into the bottom of the hedge. A hawk with a blinder is perched on her gloved left hand.

What is the meaning of the Nine of Pentacles?

I always interpret the 9 of Pentacles as material success. Achieving a state of balance after hard work. Being spiritually, emotionally, and financially settled. (The hawk on her hand represents the spiritual mastery.)

Independence is important to her. She’s done this for herself and by herself, but she may have sacrificed relationships to reach this level of success, as she is alone in the picture.

I just noticed the snail crawling on the ground in front of her feet, indicating that it has taken her time to get to where she is.

What does the Nine of Pentacles mean in a love reading?

Honestly, when I see the Nine of Pentacles come up in a love reading — especially for a person who has been working on their life/career, I interpret it similarly to above: They will continue to have a successful business and home (domestic) life, but they might not find a romantic partner in the next 3 months.

    Focus on friendships and self-care.

What does the Nine of Pentacles mean in a career reading?

When you draw the Nine of Pentacles in a career reading, it means that you’ve achieved great success. It can also mean a successful opportunity is coming your way.

If the Nine of Pentacles were to represent a career, I’d say junior banker, accountant, or something that pays pretty handsomely and has to do with money, the home, or a sculptor, gardener even a park ranger.

This could also be an RN or something like a massage therapist.

Something to do with money, cleaning, home, tactile goods, or health.

Ultimately, picking the Nine of Pentacles can be a good sign for questions about wealth, abundance, and manifestation.

  • Smoothie Fasting – Day 1 – Perfect Card of the Day

I’ve been meaning to fast for a while now. Last year was the first year in a long time that I didn’t fast at least once a quarter.

The card I pulled today, Release, was a perfect fit for the theme of my day. Releasing things that don’t serve me, releasing toxins, releasing bad habits. I’d also like to release the guilt and body shame that I feel as well, to be perfectly honest with you.

So, this fast isn’t just about losing weight, but also dropping thought patterns and habits that no longer serve me.

What do you need to release from your life? Are you holding onto anything out of fear of the unknown or because of habit? Perhaps it’s time to make a conscious effort to let it go.

    Blessings to you,
    Sue Ellis-Saller

  • Card of the Day – Change – From the Awakened Soul Oracle

Today’s card of the day comes from Ethony Dawn’s new Awakened Soul Oracle deck, which I’ll be reviewing in the coming days!

Change from Ethony Dawn's Awakened Soul Oracle deck.

Change is one of my favorite topics to talk about. It is scary and essential and daunting. Change takes heaps of courage, in some instances, or it can be subtle, small, and slow.

One thing that remains constant in life is change.

Tweet: One thing that remains constant in life is change.

Are you ready for a change in your life, as the card of the day suggests? Will it be huge or small? What will you do to manifest that change? Are you scared of it or excited about the possibilities that this change holds for you?

Me? I have a few big changes I want to make in 2017. One is blogging regularly. One is health related (diet, exercise, stress control). Both require a little bit of planning – and I know that small, daily steps can make a huge difference in the outcome.
