When I was young, my mom loved to put motivational plaques on the wall – one of which had the phrase: Today is the first day of the rest of your life.
It seems like such a simple phrase, doesn’t it?
Like many other simple statements, it contains a profound message.
Today is the first day of the rest of your life…
From this moment on, you can choose to have a new day, a new attitude, a new routine, a new life.
Things don’t have to remain the same as they were before. It’s a new day – a new chance – and that could mean a whole new life!
Or it could mean that you make some profound changes to the way that you do things in order to create a better future for yourself.
Personally, I started some new things today. I came home from dropping my kids off at school, got my workout gear on, and did Jillian Michael’s 30 Minute Shred Workout. I had a spinach, blueberry, Actimel, green tea smoothie. I sat down to work and to write.
I’m going to continue with this morning ritual for as long as I can. I want to be healthy and have a good start to my day.
I’m doing something today that my future self will thank me for. How about you?
What changes can you make in your life TODAY that will make the rest of your life a better, happier, healthier place?
Perhaps start a gratitude journal or start eating more greens or take a half hour walk on your lunch break or talk to that person who has piqued your interest or leave a bad relationship or update your resume or start saving money…
It’s your life and you have the power to make changes that will make it better for you – starting today – continuing tomorrow – and the next day until you feel that you need to make another change.
One step at a time… And if you slip a little, don’t worry! You have another first day of the rest of your life tomorrow!
Have a fabulous day!
